What is greater than empathy?

What is an emotion that can be perceived as greater than empathetic? If one connects and feels the others plight so much that he/she transforms into the other, what can it be called? A sense of "I connect with you telepathically; I know what you are thinking and I have been there." During an event in which someone can observe another species, person, etc.. voyeuristically but know what they are feeling, can it be greater than empathy?
