Problem with restoring my Ipod Touch?

I jailbroke my ipod like 3 months ago and it was kinda acting all screwed up so I tried to restore it from the ipod and when it got done it when it gets turned on it gets stuck on the apple loading screen and after I out it in the dfu mode and I try to restore it for some retard reason I have update my ipod before I restore it and I get a stupid error message saying my connection has timed out and make sure the network connections are correct, and your network is active. So yeah how can I download the software update so I can restore my ipod?
