Having just cleaned our bedroom carpet with carpet cleaner, the room drying out smells of fish

We use a bissell pro heat x2 machine with bissell detergent. No awful smells before cleaning downstairs carpet, just nice aroma of detergent. Daughter and boyfriend shared the room much to my distaste, recently moved out, carpet is not even 2 years old. we have cats but are mainly based downstairs, however i have caught them tresping on odd occasions in the bedrooms!!!.
